2008 book meme

The Librarything book meme that’s been going around. I did it last year, too, but left out the manga. How it works is simple:

The poll is of every book I’ve read this year (except that I think a few slipped between the cracks and aren’t listed, probably from when I switched primary computer use from Fakir to Rue when Fakir started misbehaving). If you’ve read a book listed in the poll at any point in time, check it. For manga, check it if you’ve read any of the series, whether or not it’s the same volumes I’ve read. Even if you don’t check a single box, please answer the first question just so I know how many people did it. I’m not including comics, or manga chapters for series where I’ll buy the US releases when they come stateside. Also, there are a few graphic novels included in the books because I was too lazy to move them. Both groups are listed alphabetically by author.

I love Canon with a passion all out of proportion to its short length, so Yurara was a huge disappointment. I hope Queen of Ragtonia next year will prove better.

Also, I finished Captive Hearts 2 yesterday and WHY HELLO THERE MATSURI HINO'S BDSM KINK NICE TO MEET YOU. I mean, not that that's a bad thing. Let's see, we've had pedophilia, pirates, vampires (does that cover vore?), bloodplay; what's next? Amputee fetish? Food porn? Autoerotic asphyxiation? More crossdressing would be great!

That's 404 manga volumes! Scans aren't included! (Maybe I should try for 500 manga and 200 boks next year?)

I love Canon and Night of the Beasts with unholy passion and I thought Yurara had potential and then it was wasted! But there's Queen of Ragtonia! And the Yurara sequel! The sequel is about Yato and spirit!Yurara off investigating things, which sounds more her style.

I haven't read vol 1 yet! But I do have my new Skip-Beat! I just can't read it until I finish my 2008 in review writeups. And maybe manga will be my reard after the steampunk anthology...

Hrm. I think I'd be inclined to count vampires more as a subset of bloodplay rather than vore, unless they're actually taking chunks out of people rather than just leaving neat little puncture wounds. *ponders* (Although something like the "abortion vampire" in one of the Love In Vein anthologies would perhaps qualify as vore...)

I'm always reassured to see that other people read as much manga as I do (you beat me by about 20 volumes, going by the numbers in other comments), but wow, you read a LOT more novels than I did. I'm kinda jealous. *g*

Hah, I just posted my own list of books. No poll, though, that's a great idea. If I hadn't just spent half an hour typing that all up and making sure the html was correct I might go back and do it.

I still might... I'm curious if anyone's read the same books I have. I don't think so. My flist isn't full of people who read, mostly.

I really need more time to read all the things I have, that I want to read, but that I don't have time to read. (This includes all my Thurmans, most of my Lindskolds, most of my Greens, and a whole stash of manga). Grrrrr and all that.

I read the first 3 volumes all together, which made them come across better than they do indivifually. It increasingly gets better and better, though.

Apparently our taste in novels differs very widely, though I read some Clamp and some of the shounen series in this poll.
Out of curiosity, have you ever read Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series? (my memory says you never mentioned it, but my memory has a tendency of being misty)

Wow, I've read 24 of the same books as you this year, as compared to 2 or 3 of the asoiaf books last year.

Only two of the same manga series, though.
