Heh. I think I read this too soon after watching Gunlock, because all I could think through most of it was “This is so much better than what the anime came up with!”
I concede to finding wee!Hazel on the adorable side. I liked his discussion with Nii (sticking to one name to keep it easy) regarding worth and value, especially given the later revelations regarding his powers.
Actually, all that talk about how worth and value fluctuates depending on the individual has a slightly hypocritical ring to it when said by someone who can erase people and things from existence. Unless the only one he considers an “individual” is himself.
And did anyone else find Nii’s body language with Hazel in that part a bit creepy? I can’t tell if it’s creepy in and of itself, or just because I think Nii is creepy.
I find it strange that Nii knows about Sanzo’s real parents. I wonder if that has to do with his powers, or with something else. And I concede to getting a tiny bit sniffly when Goku pulled Sanzo out of Hazel’s black hole as Sanzo was screaming over the threat of his saving Goku from the cave being erased from existence.
But is Minekura doing the “you dumped us and we griped but everything’s ok now” thing again? This bout would seem to require greater consequences than that.
I was amused by the fighting tournament story at the end, but grouchy because I’m ready for the Hazel arc to be over (I think I’d be more enthusiastic about it without the year long break) and that story put it off for that much longer.
And I almost forgot! Nii murdered his stuffed bunny! Alas, poor bunny.
But still no Kougaijitachi! Not even in the side story! Woes!

Ahahaha. Well, of course. I watched Gunlock long before I started reading Reload, wish I would have done it in reverse order now lol

Date: 2009-01-13 02:40 am (UTC)I think they're waiting to deal with the Sanzo-taking-off issue until he's not a bag of broken bones. Sanzo's leaving, and what they're facing now, is more serious than it was in the Kami-sama arc, and I think their behavior is reflecting that. There is just More Important Shit to Deal With.
