theory: Watanuki will live!!!!!!

I highly approve of this theory. Unfortunately (avoiding spoilers and not including anything not out in the US) Clamp's track record, as well as reveals made circa vol 10-11, make me highly doubtful that this will be the case.

I am, however, positive that the Mokonas will live.

Fan theory: the person that Fei Wong wants to revive is Clow Reed.

Date: 2009-02-03 04:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
Probably true. Clamp has made too big a deal of him to not bring him in outside of flashbacks and being mentioned.

Good point. But then again, Cardcaptor Sakura had Clow in the background the whole time and he only shows up in flashbacks (well, and the interactive one).

Any thoughts on why? /picks your brain

Well, Clow as Clow is only in flashbacks and mentions, but he's actually there the whole time, we just don't know it.

Unless Yuuko has INTERESTING secrets (about herself or someone else) though, I don't think that's the case.

Your Thoughts on the theory that Fakir and Rue are brother and sister?

Date: 2009-02-03 04:46 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
FIRST I'VE HEARD OF IT!!!

Though it makes sense, I suppose. I'm sure a lot of it is based on their having similar coloring, but I can see the argument beyond that: Raven kidnaps Drosselmeier's granddaughter for his own reasons, slightly similar dispositions, similar obsessions, etc. I don't know that I'd get behind it, but I guess can see where the theory is coming from.

There's more evidence for the theory. Take a look at the family tree (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/rymenhild/familytreefullresolutioncopy.jpg?t=1233636965).

The names are illegible. That said, Autor is pointing at Fakir's name, which is circled. Take a look at the crossed-out blur to the left of Fakir's name. It's about half the length of Fakir's name, it's got an X on top of it, and it's connected to Fakir's name by a horizontal branch.

The theory makes sense, it just isn't one I'd thought of before.

Orihime and her potential pairings.

From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
Ishida: Have trouble seeing it ever happening, but there are times where it seems he has a bit of a crush.

Grimmjow: I see the argument, as he is somewhat cast in the role of her protector, and seems to respect her (such as he seems capable of showing respect). It doesn't set off my "OH BLEEPETY BLEEP NO!!!" like a couple other popular pairings for her, but I'm also not really behind it.

Matsumoto: *chokes* I refuse to say anything on this one, since you kept reading.

Tatsuki: Even if I were more into the fanon thing (and I seem more likely to go with it as f/f than most other forms) I think I like them too much as friends.

Aizen and Ulquiorra: Stockholms' Syndrome is not romantic. Or cute. Orihime doesn't have that problem, and shouldn't be treated like she does. Also, Ulquiorra (wrongly) thinks he achieved something akin to psychological rape with her. (Since you haven't reached that part: He thought he was playing a mind game with her, not realizing that she was letting him do it because she had her own plans.)

Ichigo: I don't think Ichigo is interested in anyone right now. I can, however, see it happen in a few years when they've both grown up some. Her to get over the raging first crush and develop more mature feelings, him to grow up enough to really think of anyone that way.

ETA: Err...I think that's all the fandom's big Orihime ships.

Wow, Matsumoto and Orihime would be very... boob-tastic.

I think the pairing is based on a boob-tastic scene.

I've cycled through several Orihime ships--Tatsuki, Ishida, Ichigo--and settled down with Rukia/Orihime, myself. I find that their weird combination of admiration/devotion/mentorship, plus the fanservice, makes it easy for me to see them as more than friends.

But it's been a long time since I caught up.

I think Orihime's conviction that Ichigo loves Rukia is a hangup for me there.

Date: 2009-02-03 07:41 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] annwyd.livejournal.com
Unless something more has happened over the course of the Hueco Mundo arc + following that I missed, I never really got the impression that Orihime thought Ichigo loved Rukia...just that Rukia was important to Ichigo in a way she (Orihime) wasn't.

But then, my basic impression of Bleach fandom is that they're seeing a love triangle where none actually exists.

Date: 2009-02-03 08:12 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
Oh, I think the fandom definitely sees a triangle where there isn't actually one. If Rukia and Ichigo had overheard Orihime's comment, they likely would have looked at her like she was totally nuts. I thinkthe extent of the canon triangle is that Orihime has a crush, but believes she would be a third wheel interfering with a dynamic that doesn't have a place for her. I honestly don't think Rukia has any romantic interest in Ichigo, or that ichigo has a romantic interest in either one. Ichigo, though, seems to have Rukia somewhere between "annoying sister" and "mentor who changed my life." Part of that, I think, is being 15 and the fact that she looks his age, but he knows she's way older. I do think it's more likely that he'd eventually develop romantic feelings for orihime than for Rukia, but I don't think it's remotely a factor at this point.

From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
I typed up this huge response, then realized you said Doumeki, not Watanuki!

I think he values her very much as a friend, but he was also very aware from the start that there was something up with her, and he knew that Watanuki's blind adoration would get him into trouble. I don't think, though, that he holds anythingthat happened against her, and I think that he realizes nothing was her fault.

...Oh, man, now I want to see this huge Watanuki/Himawari response. XD

And hurray for Doumeki and Himawari friendship! It's so cute and quiet and understated. <3

Short version: I think it's platonic. (And I think the same of Doumeki/Watanuki... looking at Clamp's other m/m pairings, they don't really scan the same way.) I think most of Watanuki's crush stems from his responding to her sadness and relative isolation, and compensating by showering her with adoration and affection.

Theory: Urahara is the orchestrator of all evil in Bleach (and is essentially the "endboss").

Theory: Gin is a mole for Soul Society and will betray Aizen.

Theory 1: Can't see it. If nothing else, I can't imagine Yoruichi missing it all these years.

Theory 2: I could go with it, but I don't think it works with the Pendulum arc.

Date: 2009-02-03 05:46 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] paperclipchains.livejournal.com
I think the theory states that Yoruichi is in on it, and what's the pendulum arc?

Date: 2009-02-03 05:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
If Yoruichi was in on it, I guess I could see it. But I don't think that's really the case. Especially if it will in any way excuse Aizen.

"Swing Back the Pendulum": The flashback arc a little while back where we saw what led to Urahara leaving the Soul Society.

We learn that Urahara left-or rather, was about to be offed but was saved by Yoruichi-because he discovered a plot that had created the Visoreds. We learn then that Aizen has been planning his current scheme since then, and already had Gin-then a kid-under his wing.

I thought of a TV question for you.

Your opinion: where the heck are Kuzco's parents?

(Beyond the obvious fact that it's Disney and no one has both parents in Disney.)

Date: 2009-02-03 05:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
I DON'T KNOW! I KEEP WONDERING! I mean, there wasn't a rebellion, since Kuzco is around. I assume that there was a plague that killed them both or something, so he was raised by court officials. And Yzma. Because, you know, her plots are weirdly maternal in their special way. Kind of like how Drakkon and Shego might as well be married.

Date: 2009-02-03 06:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rhap-chan.livejournal.com
Raised by court officials... who, for the most part, indulged his whims. I sort of want to see Kuzcoparents. They would be interesting, I think.

You know, I just realized, Disney has this weird school obsession. "Weird school," that is, a school that is just plain odd. I mean, Hercules went to high school too. (That series was awesome but I digress.) What does education have to do with being an emperor? Okay, it should be compulsory, but I don't see that happening in ancient Aztec empires.

Date: 2009-02-03 06:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
I think the school thing is because of the target audience. It's kind of like how, when I first started reading manga, I read Ceres, and couldn't understand why Aya, on the run and in hiding, would ALWAYS enroll herself at a new school.

Is one of the most awesome things ever?

Is better as Oracle than as Batgirl.

Batgirl: Librarian who fights crime and holds her own against Bats. Verdict: COOL!

Oracle: Gets crippled, learns how to fight ninjas from a wheelchair and creates a worldwide information network that makes her the most valuable person the superhuman community ever had. Still stands down Batman and Superman, and demands their respect. Verdict: OMG WTF AWESOMESAUCE!!!

Oooh, I always dig these.

Gentleman Johnnie Marcone - good, bad, sort of beige? Also, is it 'Johnnie' or 'Johnny?' There seem to be a lot of divergent opinions on the latter.

I think it’s “Johnny.” I admit, this isn’t a character I’ve really put a lot of thought into. Largely, I somewhat forget about him if he isn’t around. I think he’s more on the beige side, but will tilt either way if it suits his purposes. Right now, it serves him best to play nice(ish) with the white hats.

The only relationship he wants to have is that of a companion or brother. Thsnks to his past, I think he's actively disinterested in a romantic or sexual relationship. And while he's now loyal to Kougaiji purely for Kougaiji, he still thinks of Gojyo sometimes when he looks at Kou.
