Hmm…I thought Vol 6 was the last volume of this, but I guess there’s one more.
I can’t decide if Shacho is diabolically evil, or secretly the world’s best father. And I’m not particularly thrilled with Ryo’s mother agreeing to test him to. I mean, I tend to think that if I’d spent 10 or so years in a coma, the first thing I’d want to do is find out how my kid is. (That said, the flashbacks to wee!Ryo and wee!Aya were adorable.)
I’m surprised it took Aya this long to figure out Yukari is a girl. Until now, I would have sworn that he had a pretty good idea of the truth, but chose to keep it secret. I like their interactions, but am not thrilled with how it seems to be going the triangle direction. I’m glad, though, that the romantic subplot seems to be remaining a subplot, as opposed to being a fullblown thing.
The movie about Yoko Oka’s life was a surprisingly effective way to have a flashback story, though I find it a bit odd that Ryo was omitted from the movie, even though it was about his mother and he was playing his mother in the movie. You’d think something like that would be milked to the fullest. Though, maybe Shacho didn’t want to throw him to the wolves that way just yet?
