Apr. 4th, 2004 03:33 pmFirst of all, may I just say that NO ONE IS ON and I am therefore rather bored? Thank you.
Got in 51-point-something hours in at work this week, which will come out to about 57 hours pay on payday....something good to look forward to, at least.
Went in to Waldenbooks on Friday(payday!!!) to look for the new paperbacks by Elizabeth Peters and Robin Paige, and to see if my Formerly Known as the Justice League TPB was in. The Peters and FKatJL were there, but I couldn't find the Robin Paige book(sad face) But I was told that that if you spent $35 you got a $5 gift certificate, so I went back and grabbed the 3rd and 4th volumes of Priest. Had lunch with Mom at the mall the next day and, because my paycheck was slightly larger than usual, decided to see if they had $35 worth of other stuff that I wanted but wasn't really looking too hard. Decided to get the 4th Sandman trade and first Blade of the Immortal book but was about to leave without getting anything because it only came out to $30 after my discount until my eyes strayed to the other side of the partition that divided the TPBs and the business books and I saw my Robin Paige book(it should be mentioned that the mystery shelves were about 3 feet away.) Naturally, I then went home and found out that Milehigh is having a TPB sale. Would have rather done the Milehigh sale, but the extra money was already spent...such is life.
Meanwhile, you'd think that if a teacher suggests a paper/speach topic for a course he's taught for several years, it'd be a subject that he knewthe library had stuff on. Can't find squat about my project at the school library.
Didn't get much reading done this week because of the OJT coach thing. Read an old(short) Jayne Ann Krentz book, along with Green Arrow: Archer's Quest, Lady Death #12 and Sleeper: Out in the Cold. The same thing that made me stop liking A Distant Soil kept me from liking Sleeper. Too much sex, implied sex, and randomly naked bodies, including some naked women where you couldn't be looking at the page and NOT see them, which kept me from enjoying reading it. I really liked the storyline and the writing and art overall, but if I can't go more than a few pages without not wanting to look at the book or go multiple pages trying to NOT look at it, it's not worth it to me. Like cussing, the sex doesn't bother me as much if there's a point, but only a few bits of the sex and/or nudity actually served a purpose.
Haul for the week:
Asterix and the Actress
Asterix and Obelisk: All at Sea
Blade of the Immortal v1: Blood of A Thousand
