So, Train lets Creed escape, but without powers, and most of his people sneak off too? I don’t mind Kyoko’s partner (though he snuck off ages ago) or Eve’s future boyfriend, but it was a bit much, even if it is the norm for shounen. Really, I think the only time it’s really worked for me is after the Kyoto arc in Rurouni Kenshin, and that was because it actually matched up decently well with history. But I am heartless, and so Creed’s past as an abused street child just made me giggle.
I’m disappointed Rinslet wasn’t in the final arc more, but at least she got to show up at the end. She’s rather like Okuni in SDK in that she’s prominent in the beginning, but the plot doesn’t really allow for her to stay central and so she becomes for secondary as the series continues. Which makes me sad given my love for both characters, but it’s better than when characters are kept prominent because of popularity when they don’t always work well with how the plot is going, or the mangaka doesn’t seem to know what to do with them. That’s actually something that Black Cat is blessedly free of, and that most other shounen could learn from.
Plus, I figure she’s regularly getting pulled into various scrapes because that’s what Jenos thinks a date is, and that she’s off pulling Sven, train and Eve into things when Jenos isn’t bugging her.
I now demand Eve’s adventures as a sweeper.
