The series is seriously devoted to bodyguard/princess fanservice. Actually, I’m not sure it has a point beyond that.

Beni has a fiancé! Woes. Except not really, because we know he won’t win in the end. This is mostly an excuse for Kagetora to angst prettily and attempt to Not Interfere like a proper little ninja bodyguard who is Forbidden To Care. Not that it works well for him. It’s also a good excuse for Beni to not have much tolerance for that, of which I also approve.

And Hitaki has been in the present for five years? How did they not notice that he went from being a teenager to being at least 20? His vendetta against Kagetora, apparently is to provide us with chained and tortured ninja fanservice. Because the mangka apparently forgot about that.

In short, I am shallow and eat it all up, even when rolling my eyes at myself.
