Out of curiosity I scoured Netflix to see what licensed cdramas and kdramas (jdramas and twdramas don’t get licensed, for whatever reason) were available to rent. There are about as many unavailable as there are available, and the unavailable ones that I have saved have “unknown” for the availability date. Of course, most of the available ones in my queue have a waiting period on them, too. If you know of one Netflix has that I don’t have listed, let me know. (Side note: Netflix doesn’t have all licensed kdramas and cdramas. If you’re curious, the best way to get a full list is likely to just visit YesAsia’s website.)

long list )

Here are the ones I’ve watched:

kdramas:

Dae Jang Geum currently watching
Damo
Palace (Goong)
Spring Waltz

cdramas:

Condor Hero (Return of the Condor Heroes, 2006)
Men and Legends currently watching
Patriotic Knights
Romance of Red Dust
Seven Swordsmen
The Sword and the Fairy (Chinese Paladin)
Sword Stained With Royal Blood

I’ve liked all the ones I’ve seen except for Goong, which I have a pretty strong dislike for. It’s probably the most popular of them, though. It was also I think my 3rd kdrama, and if I watched it now, I’d probably quite after one episode and forget all about it as a “not for me” drama, and not watch the other 23 episodes determined to figure out why everyone else liked it.

Most if not all of the kdramas Netflix lists can also be legally streamed at dramafever.com.

I’m particularly hopeful regarding Princess Ja Myung Go, as I haven’t been able to find complete subs anywhere.
