Of Swords and Parasols

Long after everyone else, I have finally watched Tangled. I have some issues with how the climax played out, but otherwise found it adorable. Though I kept thinking that the witch was an evil version of my mother. (My mother is a probation officer, and has been since I was about 10. Think on that for a bit.) I'm glad Disney was upfront about Flynn basically being an Errol Flynn character, because he did everything but jump off things yelling "Ha Ha!" (I may have still pointed and laughed, but it was good pointing and laughing, ditto with all the borrowing from other "Disney Princess" movies.)

But did anyone else spend the whole movie thinking about how Rapunzel should be constantly bedridden with a migraine from that much hair? I mean, sure, she doesn't have the weight of all of it constantly dragging at her head, just the stuff that reached floorlength, but even that's a lot of weight dragging at her head. And then there's the bit where she gets a braid, where it was all gathered up and she had the entire weight dragging at her head. (Yes, this is what I spend 90% of my time thinking about with versions of "Rapunzel," especially with people climbing it! Well, that and judging each version for how it handles her falling in love with literally the first person she meets who isn't her mother.)
