meganbmoore: (a woman who will not be denied)

I've been watching The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones (which I did not see when it originally aired) recently, and the first episode with the teenaged Indy features Edward Stratemeyer and Harriet Stratemeyer Adams.  Stratemeyer created Nancy Drew but died soon after, and Adams is one of the two women who wrote most of the original books.

The story is set in 1916, which is 14 years before Nancy Drew was created, but they're...essentially writing Adams as Nancy?  The earlier, redhaired, aggressive Nancy who wasn't always polite (she calls Indy a "ninny," and basically drags him along while she investigates and does most of the problem solving, though Indy naturally takes over the actual adventuring, being [a] the tile character and [b] a boy), and even calling her "Nancy" instead of "Harriet."  I have no idea if Nancy was actually based on Adams, but it's a pretty fun nod to the "future," and probably the Stratemeyer creation most strongly evident in the Indy episode.
