Of Swords and Parasols

I’m three episodes into Westworld (futuristic Wild West theme park type thing where visitors live in the American Old West and interact with android hosts who believe they’re humans who live in the old west) and while I have some hesitations, I like it. i thought the first and third episodes were pretty good, though the second...the Maeve parts worked well for me (very well) but the rest fell flat somehow. Maybe because it was more about the humans, and the only humans that have pinged for me so far are the oldest Hemsworth* and the programmer he always squabbles with. (I’m assuming at least one of the human characters is actually a host...either Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, or the bearded guy who is apparently lucky enough to be married to Gina Torres.) While there are sexbot elements and some gratuitous nudity and violence, there isn’t nearly as much as promotional stuff made me think there would be.

*He’s the oldest and the shortest (I feel your pain dude) and it’s kinda weird at times because he looks exactly like his brothers except the rugged and masculine handsome version instead of the prettyboy version of handsome like his more ginormous brothers are.
