Dear George R.R. Martin…do you hate the Starks?  Do you have it in for them?  Would two seconds without constant pain and suffering be too much to ask?  I’m almost glad we don’t see what’s happening with Rickon, given what his mother and siblings are going through.

Even if you count this as 2-3 books, this is possibly the most hectic, plot-stuffed book I’ve ever read(ignore the logic and go with the meaning)  The other two books were far from slow, but in comparison to this, they were nice, light, leisurely reads.  I feel drained just reading 50 pages of this(much less 300-400 a day, 2 days in a row…)

Those who’ve been reading my posts know that my primary interest is the Starks.  Everything else, ever Jaime and Sandor, who seem to be the favorites of most of my flist, are distant seconds (except Gendry, who I adore…but then, a large part of why I adore him is his relationship with Arya)

Incidentally, has anyone else seen this?  It's a "casting call"(non-spoilery) website for the series.  A lot are really good, though A) I don't think Sandor would have been nearly as pretty as Richard Armitage without the scarring and B) a lot of 20~ and such year olders playing 12-16 year olds.

Or at least, stay home, read, and watch DVDs.

Went into work for a few hours for overtime, then went to the dentist.  Dropped by Hastings hoping they still had used copies of volumes 2-4 of Land of Silver Rain, a manga I've been eyeing for a while...they had all 4 used on($5 each) Saturday and I got v1, then it after finishing Storm of Swords and liked it quite a bit, but they only had v4 today(got it and a few movies that have been highly recommended-Painted Veil, Pan's Labyrinth and One Night With the King-all for $25) headed to treat myself to some Chinese takeout...and my tire blew out.

Had to walk about 70 yards(Texas, June, jeans, dark t-shirt, edge of desert) to the nearest open place(no cell phone) which was a health club.  As this is real life and not Hollywood, there were no dazzlingly physically perfect people in tight lycra around to try to give me an inferiority complex, and the employyes were really nice and let me use their phone and phone book to call roadside service.  And hover  just inside the front of their nice, air conditioned building waiting for the guy to show up.

Guy shows up, and we find out that the bolts on the tire were out on so tight with an pressure gun that without a pressure gun to take them off, he could end up completely stripping the bolts and they'd STILL be on too tight.  By then it's already 7:15 and autoshops are closed, and he said(and what I was thinking) that the best thing to do if we couldn't find a place would be to take me and the car home and then call someone to tow me to a shop tomorrow.  But because he was headed in my general direction anyway, he didn't charge me for the towing) and there were about 3 auto shops between there and my apt and he checked on the way to make sure they weren't open, just in case.

So, upside? REALLY nice people.  Downside?  Tomorrow is basically get up, do rounds, call for towing, get tire fixed, then probably go straight to work.

Also?  Good thing I have roadside service on insurance.

Not the proper post, as I'm only 1/2 way through this, but wow, I'm not sure what was handled worse there(by the characters)  the marriage proposal or the rejection.  Ouch.

Almost makes Mr. Darcy's proposal in the recent Pride and Prejudice look like the smoothest, best spoken thing ever.

(yeah, I had to stop watching Battlestar Galactica for a bit.  I can only get whacked over the head by the TENSION and the DRAMA and the DANGER and the ANGST so much before needing a break...though it is good, so it's a break instead of quitting...the break, given my binge tendencies, is rather significant, though)

Also, I was just very, very bad and ordered a bunch of manga.
