Some people on my f-list post about their dreams a lot.  I don't post about mine much because I usually forget them, and if I don't, then they're a bit on the dull side.

Last night's dream, however, had Firekeeper, Jared, Elise, Edlin, Sapphire, Blind Seer and Elation from Jane Lindskold's books aboard the Silvana from Last Exile.  As I just finished watching Last Exile and I'm currently reading the third Lindskold book, I suppose it makes a degree of sense.

I remember few details, but I do remember this:

*Dio locked Jared and Elise in a room and hid the key.  When Luciola and Al heard, they both asked him why he did that, and he said it was because they needed it.  Everyone else heard and no one objected.  Firekeeper, Edlin, and the mechanics all nodded.

*The mechanics tried to bully Edlin for his foppish behavior and ended up being terrorized by Firekeeper and Blind Seer, and Edlin had to talk them down.

*Sapphire gave Sophia extremely pointed advice about her love life, announcing that she was the only one whose station allowed for bluntness.

*Firekeeper kept asking what was wrong with Alex and not understanding why he didn't just hunt down Delphine and rip her throat out, and offered her and Blind Seer's services for the job.  She also kept trying to get the alcohol flask.

*Vincent saved Alex from Firekeeper with the power of coffee.  (I don't know why Vincent was on Silvana instead of Urbanus, it was a dream...)

*Elation examined Claus and refused to believe he'd last 2 minutes in the skies until she met Lavie.  Then she made Firekeeper translate a lecture to Lavie about navigation and wind currents.

*I don't remember anyone ever letting Elise and Jared out.

And there you have the bits I remember of the rare worthwhile dream I remember anything of.

Dear Author has put up some good reviews*well, one a while back, but I missed it...) of two shoujo I'm fond of:

Basara  (Megan's opinion is quite well documented)

From Far Away (Not one of Megan's absolute favorites, but she quite likes it.)

They also have a very good review of the Princess Tutu anime, which is likely the best anime I saw last year(I'd have to sit and seriously think about it and a couple others to be sure) and everyone should watch it.  *firm stare*

All reviews are unspoilery.  Go read them.

I am trying to get through my immediate backlog of scanslations and other things, hence, spam.  But I thought two things were deserving of being posted.

1)  Bleach may be in an endless storyline that occassionally makes me grit my teeth, but certain things make it worthwhile.  Like this.

2)  This scene goes a long way to explaining why Lenalee can bash Kanda over the head with a clipboard and barely even get growled at for it.

In theory, it has been long enough since the atrocity known as Amazons Attack for me to see a reference to it without blood rage rising.

1)  Spoiler icons are mean.  Please do not assume every anime and manga fan downloads, every person reads a book the day it comes out, watches a movie the week it comes out, or watches TV exactly as it airs.  And yes, having spoiler teaser icons in a post warning about spoiler icons counts because ant intelligent person will assume you are kind enough to not leave the spoiler visible as they scrolltheir f-list.

ETA:  Spoiler icons outside cuts, posted to communities where not everyone may be caught up, or no warning of spoilers beneath cut, for clarification.

2)  There is no such thing as a clever or tasteful ship or character bashing icon.  No really, there isn't.  The best you can hope for is petty and catty.

3)  Don't post explicit icons outside a cut(for that matter, internet at large:  don't post to communities with explicit or spoiler icons.)

4)  Blinging out your icons beyond belief or altering them into something unrecognizable does not inherently make it better.  It CAN make a better icon, but that tends to be the exception.

5)  95% of photoshopping 2 images together to make a shippy icon looks really, really bad.

6)  Bad language and/or attitude to not automatically a clever icon make.  Actually, it usually does the opposite.  You can only get away with the attitude if it suits the character.

7)  Enough song lyric icons.

8)  And non-mocking emo icons.

9)  Creator/Actor bashing icons are even lower than ship and character bashing icons.

10)  Twilight fandom, please  stop taking your disappointment with the movie casting out in your user icon in every community post across the internet, especially the ones where Twilight has no relevance.  I know you do this because I see 10 or so a day, and I do not belong to a single community that Twilight is remotely relevant to.

(Yes, I have 1 photoshopped together image icon.  Yes I have fallen victim to the extreme blinging out.  Yes, I need to resume hibernation from fandom.)

PS-I have also come to the conclusion that all numbercoding and smushed names and replacement words for pairings need to die.  Except Royai.  And if you're picky about name/number order because of dominance, I feel obligated to give you my shifty eyes look.

 1)  The Firekeeper books turn my thumbs black.  EVERY SINGLE ONE.  They have not been so black so often since I was reading the A Song of Ice and Fire books last year.

2)  Thanks to ABC family's playing them and their not-so-great commercials non-stop, I now utterly despise the show Wildfire and the Bring It On movies.  This is not the fault of either show, but of ABC's drowning me in them.

3)  I am deeply amused that two of the most ship-obsessed fandoms I have dipped my toes into are Avatar and Saiyuki...which, to me, are among the most unshippy things ever.  One because of the ages of many of the characters, the other because TOO! MUCH! ANGST! DO! NOT! PROCESS! with most of the characters.

 4) Bourne.
