-Well, we got a fair number of answers in the finale. There were quite a few that we didn't. but there were more straight answers than I was expecting.
-IS HE REALLY DEAD?? CAN IT BE TRUE? DARE I HOPE? (Why couldn't he take Toby with him? Maybe Melissa secretly killed him in London.)
-Jason! Melissa! Noel! The characters I've been missing for ages! Even though they all came back to be made 10x as suspicious. Well, less so Melissa. I'm curious as to whether or not she really knows something, or if she just came up with a plan to help Spencer because she looked pretty guilty there.
-I almost went into shock when an adult male in this show reacted properly to a teenaged girl's crush instead of going into full pedo mode. Granted, I'm not sure if Officer I-Forget-His-Name was reacting to it being in public or having a genuine "OMG what signals did I give there this is bad!" moment. I tend to lean towards the latter, though I do think he has more of an interest in Hanna than is strictly appropriate, but probably more out of guilt than anything else. Unless, you know, he's the next Suspicious Candidate.
-Ezra, dude, if you don't want your girlfriend to freak out thinking you're a killer, maybe you shouldn't chase her through the woods at night and then trap her with you on a ski lift 50 feet in the air. Well, it getting stuck probably wasn't actually his fault, but still. BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER IF HE LEARNED HIS LESSON, BECAUSE HE IS HOPEFULLY DEAD. FOREVER. NO BACKSIES.
-I'm glad the writers finally realized they had Miss Parker on speeddial and started using Andrea Parker's death glares. I'm not pleased that she's apparently dead now.
-Part of me is a bit sad that Emily and Paige are probably over forever now. The other part is busy observing that it's probably for the best as Paige isn't as over her earlier controlling tendencies as I had hoped she was for the last season and a half, and that's not something Emily needs. (All of me is observing that Toby is way worse about it than Paige, not to mentioned infinitely more emotionally abusive and manipulative than Paige could dream of being, but he'll never get called on it, much less get dumped for it.)
-Just when I was string to like Hanna's new boyfriend, Ravenswood gets cancelled and Caleb's coming back. Which would have made me giddy, save that I'm annoyed with him over the breakup.
-The handling of ADHD meds and what they do and don't do and their legal availability remained horrendous. Enough so that I had to mostly tune it out, meaning I couldn't properly appreciate the otherwise interesting "Did I kill someone and not remember it?" plotline. TBH, between that and the plotline about Toby's mother, I had a hard time connecting with Spencer's plots this season, aside from the bits that focused on her and Emily.

Date: 2014-03-19 07:58 am (UTC)Oh, Melissa, how I missed your face. Please tell me you locked Toby up somewhere so we don't have to deal with him for a bit. I loathed how even when the actor isn't in the episode, we still have Toby mentions. Whereas Paige all-but disappears for entire chunks of time and we don't know what's going on with Paige/Emily until she shows up once every 4 episodes.
I didn't mind the Paige/Emily break-up because there were legit reasons for it, but I do hope this isn't the last we've seen of Paige. I've never been overly fond of her relationship with Emily, but I do like her and I'd like to see her confront Allison next season. It'd be a good full-circle moment for her if they want to write her off next year.
I'm annoyed with Caleb about the break-up and his lying to Hanna for so long, but he's still my favorite male character on this show. Which, granted, isn't saying much since I don't like most of them, but it's enough to make me excited about his return. I do hope they keep that Travis kid around though, since he also seems decent and this show needs all the decent guys it can get. BRING BACK PAPA FIELDS, SHOW! But not to kill him!
Really annoyed they seemingly killed Jessica off. Like...we were just starting to get some juicy material for her and now she's dead? I guess they'll have to do flashbacks in order to explain who she was covering for. Though, honestly, I can't imagine her lying for anyone but Jason or Spencer's dad. Maybe Melissa if they were partners in some scheme, as it seemed like Jessica was plotting something with someone in Ali's flashbacks.
I was pleased we got some answers but once again annoyed that we still don't know who tried to kill Ali or who 'A' is or if they're even the same person. We're going into season 5, we should at least know the identity of Ali's would-be killer, even if the girls are still in the dark.

Date: 2014-03-19 01:25 pm (UTC)i've never been 100% behind Emily/Paige because of the early bullying and the attempts at isolation up through mid-s3, but Emily has seemed to be happier with Paige than without (as contrasted to Spencer, who always strives to please Toby so he won't run off on her in a snit, or whatever) and they'tr the couple who I feel the show was genuinely showing as having issues that they worked through in a semi-realistic way.
Maybe Travis can be Aria's new boyfriend. Or Spencer's. (Isn't Wren still in London, too? Msybe he and Toby saw each other and fell madly in love and/or were struck by insane jealous rages and killed each other and we'll never see them again.) They're almost definitely going back to Hanna/Caleb, though, so I suspect Travis will be discarded as quickly as Jake. (Also, the blades in Jake's workout bag don't point to anyone BUT Ezra. Every other time A has struck at someone besides the girls, A has deliberately tied it to the girls so they'd suffer/get blamed/whatever, but that was just a straight up attack on Jake.)
In the books, Alison has a twin who's been institutionalized most of her life, so i'm kind of assuming that's who Jessica is protecting. (And also maybe the other patient who was involved in Toby's mother's death.) I think they've said they aren't doing the twins thing, but I know TPTB have lied before.

Date: 2014-03-19 09:05 pm (UTC)I really want them to address the Jake thing, as well as some of the other super-sketchy stuff we're seen Ezra do. Alas, I doubt that will ever happen.
I've heard the twin theory multiple times, but the PTBs keep claiming they won't go there. Then again, they claimed Mona wasn't the original A and they claimed Maya's death had actual relevance to the plot so...I don't exactly trust them to be honest about the twin theory.
