What anime should I watch?

Oh, and I tried watching the kdrama Lovers In Paris today, but the heroine's "my stupidity and irresponsibility make me cute and charming and it wrong of my boss to fire me for always being late and breaking things" personality completely alienated me and I have learned that if a modern kdrama alieantes me at the start, I should run because it'll only get worse for me.

Last Exile is great (some people find the characters not angsty enough, and while the main characters aren't, Alex makes up for everyone). Bleach is, well, Bleach. Don't bother with the Slayers OVAs. The boys aren't in them and they'll put you off the series. I love Blue Seed, but my vote went for Gun x Sword because I have SO MUCH MAD LOVE for Ray. Not that he deserves it, but I LOVE him.

Well...I have the Slayers OVAs because I heard they were set before the series...I'll save them for after I've seen the series. They may have mocking purposes, if nothing else.

Knowing my character trend, shall I assume Alex is the dark haired captain?

He's got a sword in a cane if I remember right. Or maybe it's just a cane. He doesn't have a specific weapon per se.

He does, she's just much better suited to his best friend than him (being that he's tragically doomed and all and his best friend happily isn't).

Vincent. He and Alex are on opposite sides when the anime starts, so MORE angst for Alex (he wouldn't have it any other way), but Vincent is way cool and handsome and sweet and if Sophia could get over her devotion to the angst machine, she'd see Vincent is actually pretty awesome (and deeply devoted to her). He is the more functional of the two studs.

At the end, yeah I think he does. He's nothing if not persistant and patient. Towards the end of the series she starts to transfer some of her dependence on Alex on to Vincent, so I think with time he and Sophia will be a pair.

The thing with Slayers is that Zel and Gourry are really the parts that keep you deeply interested. Lina and Amelia are very obnoxious without the boys there to soften their shrill edges. Plenty of people still hate Amelia (I don't and like her and Zel together). The boys are what make Slayers for me though.

For the record, Ray and Van from Gun x Sword also have angst, only it's ANGRY angst (especially Ray). I do want Ray's babies though.

If it sells you on him, Ray goes nutty over the death of his woman (Van does too, just not AS nutty), much like Darcia. Ray also has a gun built into his sword to cover all bases and kinks.
