So, Helen and Deneve: which do we think would have an easier time living without the other?
They're pretty much constantly together, and from what I can tell, they spent a lot of time pre-Pieta together. I've always pretty much assumed that unless they were told to be in different regions at the time, they were together, and neither ever seems to even consider going somewhere without the other.
We know from Deneve's bonding session with Undine that Helen figuratively (and probably literally) smacking some sense into her is probably the only thing that kept her from going off the deep end when they were younger, and Deneve usually seems to somewhat follow Helen's lead, unlesssomeone who isn't a pigtail puller a calmer mind is called for, so it's tempting to say that losing Helen would send her back to where she was before, but she also seems to have her act pretty solidly together now, and to have accepted that they'll all die eventually, and you have to live through it. Meanwhile, Helen is probably the most upbeat and energetic of the Claymores, and one of the more emotional ones, in her way. Also, unlike Deneve, we haven't really learned her back story (soon, I hope) so there's no telling what led to her outlook on life, or what losing Deneve would do to her. Without looking at my manga, I'm thinking she reacts more strongly when people die/are about to die/are about to awaken, but Deneve could have the whole "I can take it until it's the person I care about the most" thing going for her.
So, opinions?
Then again, what do we think the chances are of one dying and the other not awakening and engaging in some mass slaughtering?
Of course, the proper resolution to this is to say that they live forever and take in lost and orphaned girls and explain that being too stoic and serious is bad for your health, and to avoid creepy men in black.

Date: 2008-08-08 03:12 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'm not holding out hopes for either one making it out alive. Of course, if the other awakens, the rest probably won't have to worry about that particular battle anymore.
At least Galatea will live forever.
*ignores other possibilities*

Of course, the proper resolution is simply to have the OMG EPIC ANGST and let both live...
