rightstuf.com's current sale is 40% off DVD and 33% off merchandise from Funimation.

Funimation seems to be drifting away from 3-5 ep DVDs, and towards 13 ep sets.  More cost effective for buyers in the long run, but why isn't Claymore getting that treatment?  Now to decide whether or not I want to get Claymore as it comes out, or wait for a set, and whether or not to give in to some combination of the sets of Yuyu Hakusho, Ouran High School Host Club, Pumpkin Scissors, and Ghost Hunt.  I think Noir, Gilgamesh, and Emma are also all in the weekly specials, too.

MEANWHILE!

Person who stole my Dr. Pepper  from the refrigerator (in a drawer, so they had to be looking for someone's drink to take):  pray I never find you.

I saw the sale and have been debating whether or not to snag Speed Grapher. Well, I have until the end of the month to decide.

Oh yeah, that was the other one I was interested in. (Well, I suspect I'll eventually want to watch Tsubasa and xxxHolic, but that's low priority.)

And, w/ gotanime membership, about $19 for I think 28 eps. Which would be why I have Vol 1 of the manga slated for after I finish the fantasy brick and read the 1 more volume of Angel Sanctuary I have.

I've only read as much of the manga as was published in Shonen Jump before I dropped it, instead watching the anime, but I hear the mangaka got into some serious WTF?! that never made it into the anime. XD

(All my other YYH icons are on my Journalfen account, so I resort to this one for all my YYH discussions.)

I think the entire manga has been released now, actually.

Shame they're not releasing Claymore initially as a season set -- I'd likely jump on it if it was. I'll be netflixing it until a reasonably priced box set of it appears (assuming I like it, but by almost all reports the anime is quite good so I have high hopes)

I find it really weird thatthey aren't going the boxed set version.

Then again, didn't they only just have single discs of Pumpkin Scissors?

They did, although Pumpkin Scissors is a much smaller release so I wouldn't expect them to release it as a boxset (less risk and all). They could probably get away with it for Claymore, but on the other hand they probably make more money on singles than on boxsets in the shortrun. Either way they'll hopefully release one or both in a thin-pak (or simply multi-DVD holder) set.

PS is getting the "2 sets of 13 eps each" treatment.

I think Claymore got really high attention at the cons, so Funi decided to go the artbox/volumes route to get the extra $ from the artbox collectors out there. I'm actually really surprised that Ouran High School Host Club didn't get the same treatment.

I generally get the impression that shoujo anime in general doesn't do as well in the US as shounen anime, or shoujo manga. Though I'm no expert. It seems, though, that the bulk of licensed anime is shounen.

Person who stole my Dr. Pepper from the refrigerator (in a drawer, so they had to be looking for someone's drink to take): pray I never find you.

Get another Dr Pepper, empty it, refill bottle with Moxie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moxie). If the stolen Dr Pepper wasn't a partially consumed one, dab a bit of glue onto the seal-ring-thingy that breaks off from the cap so the bottle looks and feels new. Unless the thief is one of those rare freaks who *likes* the taste of Moxie, this will be a harmless but deeply satisfying act of vengeance.

(Moxie fans tend to be a sadistic lot who like to spring the soda on newbies just to watch them make faces at the unexpectedly strong bitter aftertaste. I once had a housesitting friend call me long-distance when I was travelling just to berate me for encouraging him to try the stuff I'd left in my fridge...)

Sadly, these are little 16 oz bottles and they took the whole thing.

And as much as the thought of vengeance fills me with glee, I'm the sort who'd forget which bottle it was and take it.

(There's actually another regrigerator I can use, I just prefer not to because it's smaller and tends to be fairly full, and it's in the conference room.)

Well, that's only a problem if you're also one who hates Moxie. I'd go for it, but I'm one of those freaks who actually enjoys the way it tastes -- torturing dear friends with a cheery "here, taste this!" is merely an amusing side benefit. ;)
