It occurred to me that a few people who might be interested in this may not have seen it yet, and so I bring you the trailer for the Korean adaptation of Antique Bakery. I am told by those who know such things that it's actually much gayer than the manga. (Which, actually, is kind of interesting. With Korean dramas, you usually have to interpret a hug as kissing, and a few pecks as a makeout session. But the movies? Not so conservative... At all.)

Anyway, trailer:

I have to say, even though I'm not very interested in the movie, the trailer is addictively cute (I think it's the music) the food pr0n looks amazing, and that's the first time I've ever thought Joo Ji Hoon looked attractive at all. (Yes, I know, heresy, but I've never understood why he's so popular.) The Very Very Gay baker is cuter, though. If nothing else, it looks much more entertaining than the Japanese adaptation. How anything with Fujiki Naohito and Abe Hiroshi managed to be dull is something I'll never understand.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking of starting a drinking game for anytime someone says Yoon Eun Hye should have been cast as Makino in the Korean Hana Yori Dango. Seriously, did she even audition? And, frankly, I can't picture her in the role. I like her, but in 24 episodes of Goong and 4 of Vineyard Man, I've seen her stand up for herself exactly once. For about 7 seconds, and then it was back to the cutesy protesting. Still, I have 12 episodes of Vineyard Man and all of Coffee Prince to watch, so my opinion could change. If nothing else, Vineyard Man is already a vast improvement over Goong.

lol, I'm soooooo excited for antique bakery. I like JJH's character in The Devil. XDD And just saw up to ep. 12 Coffee Prince (the show is an ADDICTION, IT WILL RUIN MY LIFE), with KJW in it, so it'd be fun to see both JJH and KJW in the same movie. XD Especially since this trailer makes the movie look gayer than freshly cut pineapples on a tray. XD;;; *has no shame*

And blah about HYD. I shall be honest and say I hated all versions of it, from manga to anime to every variety of live-action tv show/movie that ever came out for it. But perhaps I'm just a disfunctional female or something, since it seems like everyone loves this show to death. ^^;;;

The only version of HYD I really like is the jdrama, and, it being a while since I've seen it, I'm not sure how much that has to do with it, and how much with the cast itself. I do think the twdrama tried it's best, but it was too long, F4 couldn't act, and while Barbie Hsu was decent in the role (a much better actress than they were actors, at the least) she wasn't great. However, the form the violence takes there is too much for me, nd while I've tried desperately, I can't really tolerate the manga or anime.

I haven't seen The Devil. I've thought about it, but pics, clips and comments on JJH make me think too much of his role in Goong. And I'm an unusual female, it seems, because his character there is quite possibly my least favorite drama character ever, and this is a time where I have difficulty separating character and actor, much as I hate how so many seem to hold characters against performers. Antique Bakery, however, finally seems completely removed from that in every way.

Re: The Devil. In case this makes you decide to give it a chance, JJH's character in The Devil isn't like Shin's at all. Also, he is not supposed to be a positive one, seeing that he is killing people for vengeance and ruining innocent people in the process. You might not like his character in The Devil but I don't think you are supposed to. So your dislike for JJH might actually make you enjoy the drama more :P (I think you will love the other main character, the cop).

Maybe. I have heard good things about it even from other people who don't like Goong, few as those people are, which is a plus in terms of my chances of watching it. (The thing with me and Shin is the same as the thing with me and Rochester: the same things others love about them are almost the personification of my least favorite romantic tropes.)

You don't like one-eyed men? :P *just kidding*

No surprise, seeing our differing tastes, I adore Rochester :)

I'd probably like him more if he hadn't tried to trick Jane into being his mistress. Which is what she would have been, and how society would have viewed her andtreated her if the truth had been learned after the marriage. (Though, today, he'd be villified and she'd be showered with sympathy and get book and movie deals.)

lol, so I take it you like Kang Oh Soo far better Oh Seung Ha/Tae Seung?? I personally was really fascinated with Tae Seung and how well he played off of Oh Soo and Hae In. Their interactions were absolutely spiffy, and how they reveal bits about themselves as they interact. XDD lol, one of the things I really loved about this kdrama was how I love ALL of the main cast characters, in different ways due to their diff personality traits, but love them all the same. It's my one big OT3 of love, personally. I couldn't love one more than the other, etc. XDDD

Plus, the music! The cinematography! The story!! *loves this series to death* The fact that this series doesn't seem to be that popular makes me want to cry. ToT

Oh. JJH's character was my favorite. I thought what he did was unforgivable and I loved him anyway - I understood where he was coming from. But I think meganbmoore would prefer the cop.

Mawang is my second favorite drama ever.
From: [identity profile] wingstodust.livejournal.com
Yeah! It was totally awesmome how both of them did unforgivable things, but you get attached anyways. XDDD

Mawang needs more love. I'm pretty sure the comm for it is dead. ToT

lol, what's your favourite drama then? XD
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Legend, with Bae Yong Joon and Lee Ji Ah.

Do you mind if I friend you? I always love having more people to discuss dramas with.
From: [identity profile] wingstodust.livejournal.com
Oh~ Legend. XD Hmm, I only JUST started to give saeguk a chance (Once upon a time, when I was a naive and ignorant little kid, I associated saeguks with boring historical epics that drag and don't go anywhere. And if it's historical TV epics, then I automatically assume the set and costumes will be lame and not well funded, due to too many bad experiences with certain hkdramas. ^^;;) but I just watched 4 eps of The Kingdom of the Winds and am definitely in love with it so far. XDDD

Of course! I'd love to be friended! Erm, there will be random book/manga/anime talks too, and slashy talk, and I don't tend to post RL things, and I'm very very shallow, so you may sporadically see me rant for an entry about how hot so and so actor is and that should be a good enough reason to watch so and so show, but if you don't mind, then yeah!!
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
I am watching KotW now too (am through ep 8) and am in mad love. So good.

Legend is a 24 ep fantasy/period kdrama and they poured money into it.

See e.g. picspam for ep 5:

I like books, manga and anime and am totally fine with slash. I barely post anything personal and as to shallow fangirling? I love it!

I highly highly recommend The Devil!! Okay, so I haven't seen more than 5 minutes of Goong (and THAT I'm erasing forever from my memory) so I don't have actual proof, but I'm 99.999999% sure that JJH's character in Goong is nothing like him in The Devil. I was absolutely fascinated by him, the layers to his character, and how well his character clicks with the other cast members. And plus, if you aren't a big fan of JJH's character, there's always the cop, who is very adorable. XD And! Cool female character! She is the sweetest thing you'll ever see, and the two guys look up to her alot, and her character was shown as having her own life beyond the two guys. (She has a job! She has family! She gets along with her family without endless angst or money problems!) Andddddd she has psychometric powers. XDD

I LIKED WATCHING DOUMYOUJI FAIL. That was pretty much the appeal of the show to me, especially when he got the crap beaten out of him by his older sister. CLASSIC DOUMYOUJI FAIL.
