meganbmoore: (ss-uw kiss)

It came to my attention today that Jung Woo-Sung from Musa is also the star of the recent The Restless, which apparently also have the same director as Musa. This has inspired me to do a picspam of JWS in the 2 movies(with trailers from both movies) for absolutely no reason but to post pictures of 2 korean wuxia movies.

so, I was planning to do a picspam of "Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon," but then I realized that anyone reading this who's going to see a martial arts period movie has already seen it, so I decided to picspam another one I love that got no press when it came out(despite the fact that it stars Ziyi Zhang and it came out when all her wuxia movies were on the big screen...sheesh..)

The crux of the story is that a group of Korean soldiers go on a diplomatic mission to China during the Ming dynasty, and are mistaken for spies and end up standed in China with thousands of miles of desert and the sea between them and Korea.  They "luck out" when they encounter and rescue a kidnapped princess, andthe captain realizes that by saving her, they can get the diplomatic immunity they were denied and get back home.  S much better description, and more pictures, can be found here: http://www.dvdasian.com/cgi-bin/dvdasian/12831.html?id=KuqUYJpX

Politics, great fight scenes without resorting to wirefu(I love it, but I love that Musa manages to have fight scenes just as good without it) politics, a love triangle(of course, since it's an asian period drama, it's all doomed anyway, according to genre laws) and surprisingly gorgeous desert shots.
