I hae to say that, while I'm not sure I'm sold on the modern story, the two past stories make it more than worth watching.  Think of 4 angt ridden period romances, in the rame work of modern reincarnations of the historical lovers being involved in each others lives and replaying their roles(though hopefully, things will work out better in the modern era)

Ep 4 wrapped up the story from episode 3, and seemed to set up the ongoing theme of their incarnations: Ki-bum and Jung-hwa are meant to be together, but he's tied to Soo-hyun.  Meanwhile, poor Ki-soo loves Jung-hwa, but she loves Ki-bum.  The second story, however, throws a wrench in that equation.  It's set during the Mongolian invasion of Koryo, and there, Soo-hyun is a courtsean loved by Ki-soo, a Koryo general.  Against his will she's sent to infiltrate the Mongolian camp and kill a Mongolian general, who, of course, is Ki-bum(Jung-hwa is a there as a Mongolian princess-I think-who loves Ki-bum but while he's fond of her, he doesn't love her)  Since it's an angsty historical romance, though, instead they fall in love and he becomes more human while she's torn between love and duty.  It's the kind of thing [personal profile] dangermousiecan go on for pages about and normally I'd go on about it much longer, but I'm still not feeling all that great, so instead, I bring you pics:

Sooo...the news the dorama loving portion of my flist is making sure gets around is that Oguri Shun has been cast as Sano, Hirokita Maki as Mizuki and someone I don't know named Toma as Nakatsu in the Japanese version of Hana Kimi.

Now, Maki?  Really, the only other actress I know who Ithink could possibly pull it off is Inoue Mao(Erica Toda, much as I adore her, is disqualified simply because her face is far too girly...if I though they could convince methat she could convince someone she was a boy, she'd be my top pick) and Maki did cute and spunky pretty well in the one episode of Teppan Shojo Akane I've seen, so I approve.

I don't know Toma from Adam, so I'll just assume he'll make a good Nakatsu.

And Oguri Shun?  Well, yes, 90% of the currently functioning part of my brain(ther est is looking at various hard surfaces and thinking "PILLOW!!!!"...no really...the cement pillars with textured paint are actually rather comfortable) is chanting "Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role.  Oguri Shun in lead role."  The other 10% is going "Uhm...isn't he about 24-25, and Maki 18-19?"  Which, of course, makes Maki the perfect age for Mizuki, but, Oguri Shun looked a little older than the rest in Hana Yori Dango, where he was playing a slightly older character anyway.  I'm just worried that Sano'll end up looking more out of place than Mizuki.  I actually heard he was going to be in it over the weekend, just not what role, and I automatically assumed Nanba, with an outside chance of Umeda.

Of course, we all know that in the end, I'll just squee my head off anyway...

In other news, there's no way I'm driving home at midnight when I'm like I am today, so in 26(half shift) it's home+blanket+ body pillow+floor(it's comfy)+either Rebirth or Philadelphia Story.

As

[personal profile] dangermousiepointed out, the earlier pics had some rather unfortunate faciasl hair going for them(dear kdramas, I realize you like to look authentic, but to be honest, some faces just can't pull off the beard...it's why the razor was invented)
